Chemo National Cancer Institute (CNCI), an only cancer research laboratory was established on 6th January 2020 which was only focused on Cancer chemoprevention and Cancer chemotherapy. This laboratory was duly registered under Ministry of MSME, Govt of India and also an ISO 9001:2008 certified institution. In biology, cancer is defined as the malignant growth due to uncontrolled cell division. Cancer chemoprevention approaches are aimed at preventing, delaying, or suppressing tumor incidence using synthetic or natural bioactive agents. Cancer chemoprevention is defined as the use of natural, synthetic, or biologic chemical agents to reverse, suppress, or prevent carcinogenic progression to invasive cancer. The success of several recent clinical trials in preventing cancer in high-risk populations suggests that chemoprevention is a rational and appealing strategy. Chemotherapy is a cancer treatment where medicine is used to kill cancer cells. Chemotherapy is an aggressive form of chemical drug therapy meant to destroy rapidly growing cells in the body. Chemotherapy is a treatment that uses drugs that kill rapidly dividing cancer cells to prevent them from growing and making more cells. This prestigious laboratory is a CPCSEA-approved unit that is licensed for breeding, conduct and support experiments on small laboratory animals like guinea pigs, rabbits, rats, and mice. The Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) oversees the operations of the Animal Housing Facility. The Animal Housing Facility adheres strictly to standard operating procedures. This ensures assessing the quality and consistency of research proposals, and preventing the infliction of unnecessary pain and suffering on animals before, during, and after experiments. Our research unit is dedicated in making sustained progress against cancer which also requires advances across the research continuum, from the biology of cancer cells to studies of large populations.
